NASA has confirmed they will be uniting with Tom Cruise to film on the International Space Station
It was only yesterday that reports were suggesting that Tom Cruise will be filming in outer space and at first, it may seem an ambitious feat, but NASA has confirmed that in fact, it WILL be happening.
NASA administrator, Jim Bridenstine took to Twitter to confirm the rumours. There will be no green screen for this project, production will take place on the International Space Station!

Tom Cruise has had an extremely successful career so far and he always seems to like a challenge, particularly when it comes to performing deadly stunts! Now it seems he has other ambitions he would like to tick off his to-do list – heading into outer space. When partnering with Elon Musk’s Space X and NASA to develop an action-adventure shot in space, we can already imagine the crazy stunts he is going to want to do…
Once Cruise partners up with Space X and NASA, they will be bringing the first narrative feature-film to be shot in outer space.
Now, MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE 7 has had to suspend production due to the COVID-19 pandemic and lockdown restrictions, his outer space trip will not be for Ethan Hunt, the outer space shoots have nothing to do with the franchise. There’s very little known about the facts and figures at this stage as it’s very early into production and no studios are attached to the project – yet! Tom Cruise certainly likes to break boundaries, doesn’t he?!

The actor has become known for his fearless reputation when it comes to entertaining the audience. Most recently, he performed a death-defying stunt at 25,000 feet after throwing himself out of a plane for MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE FALLOUT. He was the first actor to do a Halo jump on camera from an aircraft that’s travelling at 165mph.
Back in August 2017, he made us all scream “ouch!” in unison when he attempted to jump across buildings and busted his ankle.
Cruise clearly looked in pain after the mishap.
We all know how much Cruise loves enjoying doing the stunts himself and for that we applaud him – remember the motorbike chase with no helmet?
Remember him hanging off the edge of a plane in 2015’s MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE – ROGUE NATION?
How about in 2011 when he climbed up the the outside of Dubai’s Burj Khalifa, currently the world’s tallest building for MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE – GHOST PROTOCOL?
Until more is released about Tom Cruise’s new project, we will just have to settle for watching all of his crazy endeavours from the MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE franchise instead, at least until MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE 7 lands in cinemas November 19th, 2021 and MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE 8 following on November 4, 2022.
