The two-time Oscar-winning actress Cate Blanchett is in talks to board the Eli Roth-directed Borderlands

There has been more news about the development of Lionsgate’s adaptation of the hit Gearbox Software game franchise Borderlands. We know that Eli Roth (The House With a Clock In Its Walls) will be in the director’s chair for this one, but now it seems Thor: Ragnarok‘s Cate Blanchett may be signing on to play Lilith.

For those unsure about what BORDERLANDS is, it’s an adaptation of the popular loot-shooter video game from Gearbox Software and 2K Games.  Lilith is one of the main protagonists of the franchise and is one of only six women in the galaxy that belong to the powerful siren class and they do of course have incredible superhuman abilities.

Cate Blanchett

Borderlands is one of the world’s most successful video game franchises, with more than 57 million units sold-in worldwide and Lilith is one of its most well-known characters. She speaks her mind, has a tough attitude and is not afraid of anyone, in fact, she doesn’t mind any violent encounter she has with an enemy. Lilith uses her superhuman powers to gain an edge on those who stand in her way.

Eli Roth is directing with Avi and Ari Arad producing through Arad Productions along with Erik Feig, who is also producing via his Picturestart studio. Craig Mazin will be penning the script for this one, who enjoyed recent success on his screenplay for CHERNOBYL, winning an Emmy Award in the process.

What do you all think of the casting for the movie? Do you think Cate Blanchett will make a great Lilith for Eli Roth’s BORDERLANDS adaptation? As always, we like to know your thoughts, so leave a comment below, tweet us @filmandtvnow or drop us a comment on our Facebook page.
