Will we be seeing Jason Momoa in The Crow remake?
Is Jason Momoa, aka Aquaman in talks to take on the lead role of The Crow remake? Well according to Mashable this may just be the case. Momoa may well have dropped the hint after posing with the project’s director Corin Hardy (The Hallow) on Instagram teasing a “dream job” and “great news to come.” Could this be for the remake which Hardy is attached to? Quite possibly!
This is not the first time a well known name has been attached to the reboot project, as there have been many names linked to the project but to no avail including Bradley Cooper, Luke Evans, Tom Hiddleston and Jack Huston. The film rights for the property were also in question after Relativity’s bankruptcy filing earlier this year, but this new actor attachment could mean that it may have been sorted out if the film has found its leading man.
Series creator James O’Barr has previously stated that the new movie will stick closer to the source material in many regards including using the same songs referenced in the pages of the original comic.
Alex Proyas directed the 1994 film based on the series which centered on a murdered rock star who is resurrected in order to hunt down his killers. Brandon Lee starred in the original movie and tragically died during the film’s production after he was shot with a defective blank. However, the role was recast for several sequels and even a short-lived television series. In the comics, too, O’Barr’s character has been sequelized in quite a few different stories and formats.
Momoa is a busy man of late, as he is currently filming his role in Warner Bros.‘ JUSTICE LEAGUE film and has reportedly found time for this film between his stints as the King of Atlantis.
