Jake Gyllenhaal

Jake Gyllenhaal is one phenomenal actor and it is clear that he has more under his belt than just that to offer – he has signed a first-look production deal with Bold Films so he can develop new material.

Following last year’s hit NIGHTCRAWLER, the 34-year-old actor has signed a first-look deal with Bold Films, which will give him the chance to acquire material and develop the projects with his new company. The star who is enjoying recent success with SOUTHPAW will be producing new films within the company and will no doubt have the option to decide whether or not he will star in them too, if the opportunity rises.

Riva Marker is set as the production executive for Gyllenhaal’s new company.

“Bold Films chooses to tell stories that I love — unflinching yet entertaining,” Gyllenhaal said in a statement. “I look forward to making movies that are successful both artistically and financially. That’s what Gary (Michael Waters, Bold CEO) and Michel (Litvak) do. They are nonconformists who have already proven to be terrific partners on ‘Nightcrawler’ — protecting stories and the artists who tell them.”

NIGHTCRAWLER received an Oscar nomination for original screenplay, and Gyllenhaal bagged a SAG nomination in the lead actor category. The film went on to gross $38.7 million worldwide on an $8.5 million budget.

“[Jake’s] impeccable taste in projects and deep knowledge of how to make high quality films make him a formidable producer,” said Bold Films chairman Litvak.

Gyllenhaal is certainly enjoying a successful run and has always fared well with the diverse roles he has taken on. He has already had a busy year, with Antoine Fuqua’s boxing drama SOUTHPAW ticking over well at the Box Office and he can also be seen in upcoming thriller EVEREST which lands in cinemas in September, not to mention he also has the Toronto International Film Festival opening film DEMOLITION on the cards too.

His busy couple of months do not stop there, as the American is about to start production on Tom Ford’s NOCTURNAL ANIMALS and is currently in negotiations to star in Lionsgate’s Boston Marathon bombing drama STRONGER.

With so much in the pipeline for Jake Gyllenhaal, it makes us wonder – does he actually make time to sleep?! We are certainly looking forward to seeing what he brings to the table.
