Benedict Cumberbatch

Benedict Cumberbatch has been a busy man of late and there is a lot of news surrounding the British actor.

The 38-year-old has featured in a lot of promotions for THE HOBBIT: THE DESOLATION OF SMAUG with behind-the-scenes clips and featurettes for the DVD and Blu-ray release of the film, he has also been busy filming BBC’s THE HOLLOW CROWN after taking on the role of Richard III and also promoting the Oscar-tipped film THE IMITATION GAME.

With the impending release of the film next month and following on from the release of the official poster, StudioCanal has now released a clip from the movie. In the exclusive clip, we see Alan Turing (Benedict Cumberbatch) being interviewed by Charles Dance about cracking the code.

Take a look below:

There is a lot of media hype surrounding this film and understandably so, with many predicting an Oscar or two awarded to the film.

Both Cumberbatch and Keira Knightley are superbly supported by Matthew Goode, Mark Strong, Rory Kinnear, Charles Dance, Allen Leech and Matthew Beard. The film offers a dramatic portrayal of the life and work of Alan Turing, one of Britain’s most extraordinary unsung heroes, and one of the world’s greatest innovators.

The pioneer of modern-day computing, Alan Turing is credited with cracking the German Enigma code and the film is a “nail-biting race against time by Turing and his brilliant team at Britain’s top-secret code-breaking centre, Bletchley Park, during the darkest days of World War II.” Turing, whose contributions and genius significantly shortened the war, saving thousands of lives, was the eventual victim of an unenlightened British Establishment, but his work and legacy live on. Norwegian filmmaker Morten Tyldum (Headhunters) is directing from a screenplay by Graham Moore, based on the book “Alan Turing: The Enigma” by Andrew Hodges.

THE IMITATION GAME is set for release November 14th in the UK and November 21st in the US.
