We knew it already, but now it is officially confirmed – Emma Watson is a princess. She has united both her ‘six year-old self’ and her high-profile career in her latest professional choice.Â
The former HARRY POTTERÂ actress has announced she will play Belle from Disney’s Beauty and the Beast in a forthcoming live-action adaptation.
Announcing details on Twitter and Facebook, she wrote: ‘I’m finally able to tell you…It was such a big part of my growing up, it almost feels surreal that I’ll get to dance to ‘Be Our Guest’ and sing ‘Something There’.
‘My six year-old self is on the ceiling – heart bursting. Time to start some singing lessons. I can’t wait for you to see it. Emma x’.Â
The news will surely delight fans, who were informed of the casting on Monday. Â
Disney is currently enjoying a successful run of turning their cartoon catalogue into live action films, BEAUTY AND THE BEAST joins the likes of MALEFICENT, CINDERELLA and THE JUNGLE BOOK on the list of re-imagined fantasies. The movie will be directed by Bill Condon, who directed THE TWILIGHT SAGA: BREAKING DAWN, and produced by Mandeville Films’ David Hoberman and Todd Lieberman.
According to a Disney press release, the film will begin filming later this year.Â
The role is just the latest accomplishment for Watson, who will next be seen in psycho-thriller REGRESSION, which is due to hit cinemas August 28th and rebel kidnap drama COLONIA.
