Amazing news for BEETLEJUICE fans as Winona Ryder’s character Lydia Deetz will return for the sequel!Â
While making his rounds promoting his new movie, BIG EYES, Tim Burton spoke to MTV News about the horror sequel for his 1998 movie, BEETLEJUICE and confirmed that Ryder will return to the project as young creepster, Lydia Deetz.Â
Burton spoke about working with Ryder on a recent project The Killers new music video for the song “Here With Me” and had this to say about working with her again;Â
“I worked with [Ryder], I hadn’t seen her in a while… and she was so great. I was so happy to see her. So those kinds of elements mean something to me. Michael, and her… and that character, I just miss it, there’s some freedom about that character that I love.”Â
Burton also confirmed that he’d be directing BEETLEJUICE 2 and that the project is close to get going. With Michael Keaton making such a splash in BIRDMAN, we can imagine that his success will give the project a great kick-start.Â
