Rumours of a sequel to the hit eighties flick Beetlejuice have been floating around for a while and its only been in the last few months that we’ve had any real hope of an actual movie.

It’s now been reported that DARK SHADOWS writer, Seth Grahame-Smith, will be bringing a new BEETLEJUICE story of life and has plans to set the narrative in present day.

While the first BEETLEJUICE revolves around Michael Keaton‘s famous character, he actually gets very little screen time, with Alec Baldwin and Geena Davis making up the bulk of the story. It seems as if this theme will continue to the sequel as Keaton has suggested to Grahame-Smith that he take a “less is more” approach to his character.

We reported last month that director, Tim Burton is keen for Winona Ryder to return in her role as kooky Lydia Deetz, perhaps the narrative will focus mainly on her character?

With no more details on a release date, we’ll just have to wait and see how this ones turns out.

 Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice…
