Fans of Vin Diesel and the movie XXX will be pleased to hear that news has been revealed about the third movie.Â
Vin Diesel has divulged all of the details with io9 that DJ Caruso will be the director of XXX 3. The director is largely known for helming DISTURBIA and EAGLE EYE.Â
Diesel was quick to share his excitement about having Caruso calling the shots. “I’m excited as hell about XXX. DJ Caruso is directing it, which is exciting. The big question now is which will race to production first now that F Gary Gray is on [Furious 8]? Will XXX race to production first or will Fast race to production first?”
The question still remains as to which film will head into production first, but a release date of FAST & FURIOUS 8 was already announced – April 14th, 2017, which has STRAIGHT OUTTA COMPTON’s F Gary Gray sitting in the director’s chair for that one.Â
Back in August, Diesel announced on his Instagram that he will be reprising his role as Xander Cage, a rebellious extreme sports enthusiast turned undercover spy, which is due to start shooting in December.Â
Diesel also added how much fun he has playing Cage on the big screens, which he first played in 2002. A sequel was made in 2005 but starred Ice Cube instead of Diesel.
“XXX is one of those films you do when you need to have a little fun,” Diesel said. “When the weight and pressures of all the other things have gone so far that you need to have a character that you can just have fun and more comment on life and comment on the outcome than being in it like Dom Torretto [from Fast and Furious].Â
“Dom is very much the centre of the storm, Xander is more the guide to something else and you’re just with him.”
No further casting announcements have been revealed for XXX, but we can expect to hear some announcements over the coming months.
