The Night Manager
Le Carre also made an appearance in the most film recent adaptation of his novel Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, starring Gary Oldman

It was only a few days ago we gave you more casting news for BBC drama THE NIGHT MANAGER and now there will be another addition to the ensemble…

Spy novelist John Le Carre himself, the very author of the original book will be stepping in front of the camera and making a cameo appearance in a new TV series based on one of his best-selling novels.

The writer, real-name David Cornwell, has written more than 20 best-sellers often set in the murky world of cold-war politics and espionage.

The series boasts a stellar class including the brilliant Tom Hiddleston, who Le Carre will star opposite in a restaurant scene in the BBC’s version of THE NIGHT MANAGER.

The Night Manager

British actor Hiddleston plays an ex-soldier named Jonathan Pine, who is recruited for the British intelligence service by the mysterious Burr (Olivia Colman).

Jonathan Pine is sent to investigate an alliance between Washington DC, Whitehall and a major arms dealer by infiltrating weapons trader Richard Onslow Roper’s (Hugh Laurie) gang.

The cast of the show, set to be broadcast next year, also includes Tom Hollander as another spy and this week’s new additions (aside from the author himself) is Russell Tovey, Alistair Petrie and Douglas Hodge.

THE NIGHT MANAGER HAS been translated into more than 20 languages and sold more than one million copies in north America alone since it was published in 1993.

It is not the first time he has made a cameo appearance in an adaptation of his own work. He played a drunk secret agent in a Christmas party scene in the 2011 film version of TINKER, TAILOR, SOLDIER, SPY which starred Gary Oldman as George Smiley – the part made famous by Alec Guinness in the TV series.

THE NIGHT MANAGER is still in production, so roll on 2016 when it finally hits our screens!
