trumbo

TRUMBO is a film that everybody should be keeping an eye on come awards season.

A period drama based on the real life of Hollywood screenwriter Dalton Trumbo, who in the 1940’s was blacklisted by the US government for sharing views and sympathising towards the communist party. Trumbo is sent to prison and upon his release, finds that he can no longer get work, so he starts writing under a pseudonym, penning major works of the time hoping to bring an end to the devastation felt by the victims of the Hollywood Blacklist.

The first official poster can be found below.

The film stars Bryan Cranston as Trumbo and has one of the most impressive ensemble casts of the year including Helen Mirren, Elle Fanning, John Goodman, Diane Lane, Alan Tudyk, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje and Louis C.K.

TRUMBO is directed by Jay Roach who may seem like an unusual choice for the project. His previous films are more on the screwball comedies such as the AUSTIN POWERS films and the MEET THE PARENTS trilogy. However it’s always good to see directors pushing themselves, doing something new and possibly marking the start on a new page in Roache’s career.

With the posters arrival, it’s safe to expect the first trailer to arrive soon.

TRUMBO is set to premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival and will be on a limited release schedule on November 6th in the United States. There is no news on a UK release date as of yet.
