Richard Armitage

Calling all Richard Armitage fans, we’ve got some great news for you… Having just finished his stint as Thorin in THE HOBBIT trilogy, Armitage will be taking on a slightly more sinister role in NBC’s HANNIBAL series.

The NBC show, which stars Mads Mikkelsen and Hugh Dancy, explores the early relationship between Dr. Lecter and his young FBI criminal profile patient, who finds himself destroyed by his ability to empathize with serial killers.

The horror show will be welcoming Armitage for a six show arc as Francis Dollarhyde, also known as The Tooth Fairy. This isn’t the first time audiences have met this character, having been played by both Tom Noonan in Michael Mann‘s MANHUNTER and Ralph Fiennes in Brett Renner‘s RED DRAGON.

Known for having some serious Mother issues, elaborate body art and false teeth, the Tooth Fairy isn’t the kind of guy you’d want to meet down a dark alley, making the character a seriously interesting choice for Armitage!

The closest we’ve seen Armitage as a ‘baddie’ was his role in BBC‘s ROBIN HOOD as the moody Guy of Gisborne so seeing him don some dodgy fake teeth and menacing tattoos will be brilliant.

Anybody else going to be binge watching Hannibal now thanks to this casting?
