Hold your horses everyone! A new trailer and poster (as seen below) has arrived for upcoming film, THE SALVATION.
The film stars Mads Mikkelsen, Eva Green and Eric Cantona in a tribute to the classic American western for modern day audiences and it looks like it provides everything we could hope for from that genre of film: runaway horse carriages, gun shoot-outs, plots of revenge and of course, blood-shed.
We are taken back to a dusty North America in the 1870s set in a time period after a rushing military defeat against Germany, forcing many Danish soldiers to travel West in search of a new life. Amongst these new settlers and outlaws, Danish immigrant Jon (Mikkelsen) has been waiting for years to bring his wife and son to the United States. When he finally succeeds, moments after their arrival they fall victim to a horrific crime. Out of grief and despair Jon kills the perpetrator. His actions unleash powerful forces. His victim’s brother is the ruthless Colonel Delarue who terrorises the town of Black Creek and will stop at nothing to avenge his brother. Betrayed and ostracised by the community, Jon must transform himself from peaceful settler to fearless warrior to save the town and find peace.
The film has been brought to the big screen by Kristian Levring who also co-wrote the gripping Western alongside Anders Thomas Jensen.
THE SALVATION arrives in cinemas April 17th.
