Will you be joining them, one last time? We know that we certainly will be…

Thorin Oakenshield (Richard Armitage) will face the biggest battle of his life.

The build up for the final installment of THE HOBBIT trilogy is in full swing and to celebrate (or commiserate) the end of a fantastic three years following Bilbo survive his battles on Middle Earth, the new Hobbit trailer has been released – and it is very bittersweet.

The end of an epic trilogy deserves an epic send-off, and the new trailer for THE HOBBIT: THE BATTLE OF THE FIVE ARMIES tantalises, thrills and certainly teases us with all of the drama and action still left to come – Smaug is on a mission to set Lake-town ablaze and wipe out all of the villagers and there is also the added problem of Sauron returning to Middle-Earth.

With all of the battles ahead that spells big problems for everyone’s favourite hobbit, Bilbo Baggins (Martin Freeman), the King Under The Mountain – Thorin Oakenshield (Richard Armitage) and his company of Dwarves.

Bard the Bowman (Luke Evans) must find a way to stop Smaug from destroying Lake-town.

Bard the Bowman (Luke Evans) found himself in a spot of bother at the end of the second film – can he save Lake-town from Smaug the Stupendous (Benedict Cumberbatch) and of course, where would they all be without Gandalf (Ian McKellen)?

If the new trailer for the final film in THE HOBBIT trilogy is anything to go by, we are going to be taken on an action-packed, emotional roller coaster, with the mother of all battles brought to the big screen by legendary director, Peter Jackson.

All of the regular faces from the last two films will come together for one last time (we are inwardly weeping at the thought of this) for a 45-minute battle scene that’s bound to get fans who yearned for the good old days of RETURN OF THE KING excited as J.R Tolkien’s literary vision will finally be brought onto the big screen in all its glory.

The trailer provides a bleak, emotional tone, but it’s also packed with snippets teasing us with all of the action we have been hoping to see: The preparation of the Armies as they assemble and unleash their weaponry, towns burnt to their ashes with only cinders remaining, of course our favourite characters facing off against each other as the Dwarves step up against the axe-wielding Orcs and naturally, Gandalf delivers an awe-inspiring pre-battle speech that gets the impending fighters pumped.

The world premiere of THE HOBBIT: THE BATTLE OF THE FIVE ARMIES will be held in London’s Leicester Square on December 1st and what an emotional send off that is expected to be.

Until then we will have to make do with the second trailer from the film – and at just under 3-minutes in length, it is worth watching every second:

THE HOBBIT: THE BATTLE OF THE FIVE ARMIES is released in UK cinemas December 12th and in the US on December 17th.
