The cast list is continuing to grow for KONG: SKULL ISLAND, as STRAIGHT OUTTA COMPTON star Jason Mitchell has landed a role in the upcoming flick.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the 27-year-old actor has been in talks about appearing in the big monster movie.
Mitchell may largely be known to cinema audiences from his brilliant performance in this summer’s smash film STRAIGHT OUTTA COMPTON, where he played the role of rapper Eazy-E. There have no definitive confirmations that he will set sail for SKULL ISLAND, as negotiations are reportedly still underway for Legendary’s film.
STRAIGHT OUTTA COMPTON may be responsible for really putting Mitchell’s talent into the limelight, but he has appeared in other minor roles over the last few years – most notably appearing alongside Mark Wahlberg and Russell Crowe in BROKEN CITY.
There is no time for the young breakout star to enjoy his newfound success, as he is currently busy working on another project for New Line’s comedy KEANU from Keegan-Michael Key and Jordan Peele, and he will also be seen in the indie VINCENT-N-ROXXY with Emile Hirsch and Zoe Kravitz.
It is believed that Mitchell will play at the role of a pilot in the movie, which will reunite him with Corey Hawkins, his Compton co-star (he played Dr. Dre) who is already cast in the movie.
Jordan Vogt-Roberts will be the man calling the shots bringing to life Derek Connolly’s script. Production begins in Hawaii in late-October and Tom Hiddleston and Brie Larson are already confirmed for SKULL ISLAND.
KONG: SKULL ISLAND will storm into cinemas March 10th, 2017.
