Insurgent director will remain onĀ board for the next installment of the franchise
AfterĀ DivergentĀ director Neil Burger decided not to sit in the director’s chairĀ for the follow-up, INSURGENTĀ director, Robert Schwentke, seems to have no qualms with taking over the reigns and replacing him – not only for the second film, but also for the next installment.
The third film in the franchise looks set to have a smooth running as ALLEGIANT – PART 1 has secured Schwentke’s visionary experience once again.
Recent shots from the film, INSURGENT have been releasedĀ with Four (Theo James), Tris (Shailene Woodley) and Caleb (Ansel Elgort) on the run.
INSURGENTĀ is currently in post-production, and continues the story of Tris and Four, who live in a future state where civilisation is split into five different factions. Ā The film series also stars Miles Teller and ZoĆ« Kravitz, withĀ Naomi WattsĀ andĀ Octavia SpencerĀ joining the cast.
Lionsgate have found themselves in a similar situation as with THE HUNGER GAMES franchise, where Francis LawrenceĀ filmed the CATCHING FIRE installment and continued to see through the remaining films in the franchise for MOCKINGJAY PART 1 and 2. Maybe Schwentke will stay for Part 2 of ALLEGIANT? We can imagine that Lionsgate will hope so for continuity reasons.
There is still some time to wait for INSURGENT to hit the big screens, it’s not released until March 20th, 2015 and ALLEGIANT – PART 1 is set for a March 18th, 2016 release.Ā
