It seems that Superman actor Henry Cavill will be back on the big screen in a new movie and this time, he is set to portray Sherlock Holmes in a new film based on The Enola Holmes Mysteries series of novels, entitled ENOLA HOLMES.

Over the years, the Sherlock Holmes character has been played by superheroes, so clearly this must be a prerequisite of playing Arthur Conan Doyle‘s legendary detective! Marvel’s Ironman actor, Robert Downey Jr. starred in the SHERLOCK HOLMES movie playing the titular character alongside Jude Law, and so has his AVENGERS co-star, Benedict Cumberbatch, who played the infamous role for the BBC show alongside Martin Freeman. It is only fitting that Henry Cavill is boarding the project as now Sherlock Holmes is being played by Superman too!

Cavill will be joined by STRANGER THINGS star Millie Bobby Brown who will play the title role in Enola Holmes as the famous detective’s much younger sister. Brown is also  on double duty for this one as she is producing the movie.

Cavill and Brown will be joined by Helena Bonham Carter, who is set to portray Sherlock and Enola’s mother.

Written by American author Nancy Springer, The Enola Holmes Mysteries tells the story of the teenage sister of Sherlock and Mycroft Holmes, who is twenty years Sherlock’s junior. Instead of going to school to learn how to be a lady like her brothers insist, Enola runs off to solve cases.

Cavill, was last seen on the big screen in MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE – FALLOUT and can next be seen in NIGHT HUNTER (formerly known as NOMIS) due out on 13 September. He also has completed filming Netflix’s adaptation of Andrzej Sapkowski‘s novel THE WITCHER.

Millie Bobby Brown is gearing up for the new series of STRANGER THINGS on Netflix.
