The 77th Golden Globe Awards 2020, honouring the best in television and film, were presented by Ricky Gervais on Sunday evening in Los Angeles at the Beverly Hilton.
It was a good night for British stars at the Golden Globes with many top accolades scooped from both the film and TV catergories, but of course, a lot of deserved attention was also given by all those that attended about the tragic Australian bushfires.
Director Sam Mendes received two awards for his World War I epic 1917 winning for best director and also best film drama.

Elton John‘s biopic Rocketman also took home two awards on the night with Taron Egerton winning the best actor gong and Sir Elton and his songwriting partner Bernie Taupin won best film song for ‘I’m Gonna Love Me Again’.
There was a lot of whispers surrounding Phoebe Waller-Bridge‘s sitcom Fleabag and whether or not it would pick up a coveted surprise – and it did. The TV series was awarded best TV series (musical or comedy) and Waller-Bridge was crowned best actress in a musical or comedy.
Speaking of ‘crowned winners’, Olivia Colman won for playing The Queen in The Crown, who looked rather surprised when she was announced as the winner.
It may come as no surprise to many that Once Upon a Time In Hollywood scored big at the prestigious ceremony, claiming most of the awards on the night with both Brad Pitt and Quentin Tarantino walking home with best supporting actor and director respectively. Top accolades for best film in a musical or comedy and screenplay for a motion picture were also awarded to the movie.
