Carol

It seems that THOR: RAGNAROK may have found another member of the cast in Cate Blanchett, who is reportedly about to sign up for a leading part in the third THOR movie.

Cate Blanchett may currently be the talk of Hollywood after earning Screen Actors Guild Award and Golden Globe nominations for her role in CAROL, and now the Australian Oscar-winner is looking for a rather different type of role to play…

According to The Hollywood Reporter, sources at Marvel have said they’ve been on the lookout for a ‘bad-ass female’ role for the actress in the upcoming movie.

If she does indeed sign on for the project, she will be sharing the screen alongside Chris Hemsworth who is the hammer-wielding titular Norse god, Tom Hiddleston’s mischievous, but loveable Loki, Mark Ruffalo as Hulk and Jaimie Alexander’s Lady Sif.

Blanchett would be a great casting choice, as her fantastical role in THE LORD OF THE RINGS and THE HOBBIT trilogies were impressive, but with rumours swirling that Charlize Theron, Jessica Chastain and Emily Blunt are up for the role of a female villain, she faces stiff competition.

The scene with Galadriel and Gandalf is dark and dramatic.

New-Zealander, Taika Waiti will direct the highly-anticipated film, whilst Stephany Folsom has recently finished the script.

The THOR franchise has proven to be a popular venture for Marvel, having grossed over $1 billion worldwide for the first two movies. No doubt the third will be topping up that total nicely upon its release…

THOR: RAGNAROK is scheduled for release on November 3rd, 2017.
