Benedict Cumberbatch was back on the BBC on Tuesday evening – not for SHERLOCK HOLMES unfortunately, but appearing in a new advert celebrating a lifetime of British Drama successes over the years and in those yet to come.

The teaser trailer saw Cumberbatch reflect on some of the BBC’s most previous successful dramas and even more excitingly – introduce some of the biggest upcoming dramas, including THE MISSING (the first of the eight part series aired today), THE CASUAL VACANCY, an adaptation of JK Rowling’s novel, Roald Dahl’s ESIO TROT, ONE CHILD and THE INTERCEPTOR.

We were also treated to all too-fleeting glimpses of WOLF HALL, written by Oscar-nominated Peter Straughan, Jimmy McGovern’s BANISHED, JONATHAN STRANGE AND MR NORRELL, based on the best-selling novel by Susanna Clarke, and the major new seven part series, which has got everybody excited – POLDARK, written by Debbie Horsfield, which also coincidentally stars Benedict Cumberbatch’s THE HOBBIT co-star, Aidan Turner.
