Tom Cruise

Tom Cruise is tipped to take the lead in a new comedy called BOB THE MUSICAL, according to The Wrap.

It has taken a while for the project to get moving, as it has been trying to get off the ground since 2004, however now there seems to be a beacon of hope with Disney on board. It is believed that the actor will play a man who suffers a blow to the head that allows him to hear everyone else’s inner songs – thus turning his life into a musical, much to his annoyance.

It is also rumoured that Disney are hoping to get Michel Hazanavicius to helm the project who won an Oscar for THE ARTIST.

BOB THE MUSICAL has been through numerous potential iterations in Hollywood since the script emerged in 2004. Other directors were also attached to the project previously including HAIRSPRAY’s Adam Shankman and THE LEGO MOVIE’s Phil Lord and Chris Miller and there have been even more comings and goings with potential composers.

Now it seems that the new script has been penned by Allan Loeb, who is no stranger to comedies  as he was involved in THE SWITCH and JUST GO WITH IT.

We haven’t seen Cruise in a comedic role since his appearance in 2012’s ROCK OF AGES, also scripted by Loeb, but we can next see the American in upcoming movie MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE – ROGUE NATION, which arrives in cinemas this summer.
