Beasts of No Nation

A stirring, perpetual first full trailer and new artwork for Cary Fukunaga’s BEASTS OF NO NATION, which will be released on Netflix on October 16th, has been released.

Beasts of No Nation, which is based on a novel by Nigerian author Uzodinma Iweala, depicts a land torn apart by war and the journey of a Agu, played by first-time Ghanaian actor Abraham Attah, from innocent young boy to reluctant child soldier. Caught between two warring militias in a neutral town, Agu’s parents are killed, and the orphaned boy becomes the protege of the Commandant (Idris Elba), a ruthless leader of one of the armies.

So far, we have seen a little of what we can expect from the teaser where the young Agu is being persuaded to kill a man from a rival army by the roadside. The full trailer gives us a longer glimpse of Elba as the Commandant, revealing his charismatic, dominating power figure side as well a rather violent streak.Beasts of No Nation

A new poster, which can be seen above has also been released for the film (above), which recently had its world premiere at the Venice Film Festival and will screen at the Telluride Film Festival, Toronto Film Festival, and London Film Festival.

Any work with the name Cary Fukunaga will certainly draw a lot of attention and carry a lot of weight after winning an Emmy for TRUE DETECTIVE and the young movie pioneer is certainly making a name for himself making ambitious, challenging, strictly-for-adults movies, and people are paying for them.

What makes the film even more red-hot is the fact that LUTHER’s Idris Elba is taking the lead on this one and after watching the trailer, he has confirmed once again he can do no wrong. Then again, anything with Elba in will certainly get our attention and make it worth the watch.

With Elba in front of the camera and Fukunaga behind, this film looks to be a roller coaster of a ride…

Here’s the gripping trailer for the film:
