Amy Winehouse

It is so sad to see, but a new, heartbreaking trailer for the upcoming Amy Winehouse documentary AMY has been released off the back of the film’s Cannes premiere. You can watch it in full below.

It is heart wrenching to watch and that is the trailer alone, so we can only begin to imagine how emotional the film itself is.

In the trailer we see the singer’s self-destructive public image exploits, which once stripped away reveals a vulnerable young girl who never expected fame and “just wanted to be loved”.

The documentary has been brought to the big screen by British director Asif Kapadia (SENNA) who has used archive footage, unheard music and interviews with Amy’s closest friends and family to tell the story. This will no doubt prove to be a rather emotional look at a talented artist who died in 2011 aged just 27.

‘Amy’ premiered at Cannes Film Festival over the weekend to universal critical acclaim.
