Humans

“The upgrade you’ve been waiting for is here…” says the first teaser trailer for Channel 4 and AMC’s robot show HUMANS…

The series, which is a co-production between the US network and Channel 4, is based on Swedish show REAL HUMANS and is set in a parallel present.

The highly anticipated eight-part series is written by British duo Sam Vincent and Jonathan Brackley (SPOOKS). The fantastic writing combination of Vincent and Brackley have also penned the upcoming movie from the popular hit BBC series, SPOOKS: THE GREATER GOOD.

The series tells the story of a very different society to which we are accustomed to – the latest must-have gadget is a Synth – a highly developed and lifelike robotic servant. The drama sees one strained family decide to buy a refurbished Synth in the hope of improving their lives – but they soon find that sharing life with a machine can have very chilling consequences.

The new clip really is a teaser at only 16 seconds long and only gives us a tiny glimpse of what we can expect from the series. It shows Gemma Chan (DATES, FRESH MEAT) as Synth Anita, who is woken with a touch of her chin.

The upcoming drama has interesting and diverse cast including Katherine Parkinson (THE IT CROWD, THE HONOURABLE WOMAN) and Tom Goodman-Hill (THE DEVIL’S WHORE, MR SELFRIDGE) as the couple who purchase Chan’s Synth.

They are in good company as also MERLIN and THE FALL actor Colin Morgan plays Leo, a young man on the run, while Neil Maskell (UTOPIA) plays a member of the Special Technologies Task Force.

The casting assemble doesn’t end there as William Hurt, Rebecca Front, Will Tudor and Emily Berrington also star.

Little else is known about when HUMANS will be released, all we know is that is slated to be broadcast at some point in the summer.

For now, here is the brief snipped to tease you…
