In a move similar to the strategies of Marvel, earlier this week Warner Brothers dated nine DC comic movies that they plan to release up until 2020. The studio have teased that an announcement of what some of the titles will be, is going to be announced this month.

Box Office Mojo revealed the list of release dates for Warner Brothers.

Here’s the list:

  • Untitled DC Film – August 5th 2016
  • Untitled DC Film – June 23rd 2017
  • Untitled DC Film – November 17th 2017
  • Untitled DC Film – March 23rd 2018
  • Untitled DC Film – July 27th 2018
  • Untitled WB Event Film – November 16th 2018
  • Untitled DC Film – April 5th 2019
  • Untitled DC Film – June 14th 2019
  • Untitled DC Film – April 3rd 2020
  • Untitled DC Film – June 19th 2020
  • Untitled WB Event Film – November 20th 2020

This is a huge step forward for DC who has always been a step behind the Marvel movies. Looking at the line up it would be a safe bet that we will be seeing a Justice League movie in the next six years, with the studio having allegedly approached Chris Terrio (Argo) to write the screenplay.

About a month before this year’s Comic-Con, a reputable source had leaked a list from Warner Brothers. On this list were their initial release date plans for the upcoming DC releases up until 2018. On this list were titles including Shazam, Sandman, Justice League, Wonder Woman, Flash/Green Lantern & Man of Steel 2. The leaked dates now don’t match up with the official releases but some of these movies could still be announced later this month.

It’s a move similar to Marvel, who has announced their release line up until 2019. Sensibly though, none of the releases are positioned close together. It’s been a long time coming but it finally looks like DC are about to launch a cinematic universe of their own.
