Riddick

Vin Diesel has made no secret about wanting to see a new chapter of RIDDICK being brought onto the big screen once again and now he has taken to social media to announce some very exciting news…

Diesel has confirmed that not only will there be a another chronicle feature film, but but also a spin-off television series.

“Last night our company had a party to launch our TV division,” Diesel writes. “MERC CITY is a show that will follow the Mercs and Bounty Hunters of the Riddick Universe. Next Month, DT begins writing the next Chapter in the Chronicles of Riddick… FURIA.”

The “DT” he is referring to in his message above is director David Twohy, who has penned and helmed all three of the RIDDICK films: PITCH BLACK (2000), THE CHRONICLES OF RIDDICK (2004), and 2013’s RIDDICK. Twohy has also written the two animated Riddick shorts, THE CHRONICLES OF RIDDICK: DARK FURY and RIDDICK: BLINDSIDED.

With regards to MERC CITY, it will certainly be an interesting venture to see how well the spin-off TV series does, especially without Diesel starring in it, as he is certainly a big appeal in the franchise. However, it will be interesting to see who is cast in the show and the characters they come up with.

Either way, the franchise has withstood the test of time, so it will be interesting to see how Diesel’s passion for the sci-fi action film series continues to develop the cult following it has garnered over the years.
