Tom Hardy

Tom Hardy will be prepping himself to play yet another gangster after his turn as the Kray twins on Legend…

Tom Hardy will be adding yet another film to his ever expanding CV, as the 39-year-old actor has won the lead role as Al Capone in upcoming movie FONZO.

The movie will be focusing on the ‘myth and lore’ of the most notorious gangster in history, who exercised a reign of terror over Prohibition-era Chicago.

Hardy is no stranger to playing bad boy characters and we can imagine he will love sinking his teeth into this role too. Capone was a well known gangster who died aged 48 after serving just eight years in prison for his unspeakably brutal crimes.

In later life Capone suffered with dementia, and memories of his grisly murders returned as he slowly died — that will be interesting to see how that is explored in the movie.

The film has been written, and will be directed, by Josh Trank, the man behind the 2015 FANTASTIC FOUR movie.

Throughout his life, Capone was known under many nicknames including Scarface, Big Al, Big Boy and Public Enemy Number One, so it will be interesting to see how the title FONZO has come into play for the film.

‘Fonzo brings together the myth and lore of notorious American Gangster Al Capone, with the undeniable talent of Tom Hardy and Josh Trank,’ reads the plot description by Bloom, the production company currently marketing the movie to studios.

FONZO is currently in pre-production with no release date scheduled as yet. You can next see Tom Hardy in the TV series TABOO in 2017.
