Could you imagine Hollywood actor, Tom Hanks as Doctor Who? Well it appears so could the powers-that-be at the BBC…

There’s no denying that DOCTOR WHO has oozed in recent years with so much talent and has featured many impressive guest stars including Brian Blessed, Derek Jacobi, Ian McKellen, and more recently Maisie Williams, and now it looks like they are hoping to bring in the one of the biggest names yet…

Doctor Who himself, Peter Capaldi, says his BBC bosses asked him to tap up Tom Hanks to appear on the hit sci-fi show.

“I think Doctor Who is a great venue for any kind of actor,”  he told ITV’s Good Morning Britain. “Funnily enough they were trying to persuade me to…. I was working with Tom Hanks last night and the producer was on to me saying, ‘Try and persuade Tom to come and be in the show’. I did have a word with him but he is very busy at the moment.”

Hanks will not be playing the titular character of course, but to be honest, we don’t care what character he plays – we would just love to see him in it!

Capaldi also shared who he would love to have star in the series: David Bowie and Keith Richards.

The Scottish actor was on GOOD MORNING BRITAIN to discuss the Doctor Who Festival which is underway this weekend at the ExCel centre in London.
