It seems turning Disney cartoons into a live-action movie is high on film companies checklists right now.

Disney’s live-action version of CINDERELLA opens on Friday (March 13) in the US and March 27 in the UK and now rumours are rife that there will be another live-action adaptation of a Disney classic – an adaptation of the 1941 animated classic, DUMBO.

Tim Burton is the man believed to be in the director’s chair for this one and the new version of DUMBO will blend CGI animation and live action in its tale of a bashful elephant’s dreams of flying free above the heads of his tormenters.

Burton and TRANSFORMERS franchise screenwriter Ehren Kruger‘s movie will introduce an original family subplot to complement Dumbo’s journey, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

This will be a reunion for Burton with Disney, having started his career as an animator and concept artist on films like THE FOX AND THE HOUND and TRON.

We don’t have long to wait to see some of Burton’s latest projects, as he is currently attached to direct Asa Butterfield and Eva Green in 20th Century Fox‘s adaptation of the Ransom Riggs novel MISS PEREGRINE’S HOME FOR PECULIAR CHILDREN.

After the success of recent Disney live-action adaptations, what are your thoughts on their latest venture with DUMBO? Share your thoughts below:
