trumbo

Earlier this week the first official poster was released for Jay Roach’s film TRUMBO and now we have been given the trailer, which you can watch below.

The film tells the true story of Hollywood screenwriter Dalton Trumbo (Bryan Cranston) who in the 1940’s was imprisoned by the US Government and blacklisted by the heads of the major studios for sympathizing with the Communist  party. Upon his release from prison, Trumbo could no longer find work within Hollywood  and begun writing under a pseudonym.

Trumbo wrote classic films such as, THE BRAVE ONE and ROMAN HOLIDAY, both of which he won Oscars under the pseudonym and Ian McLellan Hunter, who served as a front. The film tells of Trumbo’s fight with the US Government over a war on words and freedom. The blacklist began to loose its authority in the sixties as Trumbo was publicly credited for his work on the films SPARTACUS and EXODUS bringing an end to the blacklist.

TRUMBO features an impressive cast of Helen Mirren as Hedda Hopper, Diane Lane and Elle Fanning playing Trumbo’s wife and daughter. Alan Tudyk, John Goodman and Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje also feature in the film.

TRUMBO will be released in the US in November and at the moment, a UK release date is currently unknown.
