Dark thoughts amidst a sad and disintegrating marriage in London begin to impact an office worker in the psychological noir THE GLASS MAN.

Martin Pyrite (Andy Nyman) has been dismissed for misconduct from his job and is promptly blanked by his former colleagues, up to and including his HR representative who has given him a not-so-shiny reference for ‘telling the truth’. At home, his wife Julie (Neve Campbell) is unaware he has been fired and when a message comes through from his HR representative, she misinterprets it as clear evidence of an affair.

Thousands of pounds in debt from credit and other things, things get a lot worse when a man called Pecco (James Cosmo) appears at his door with a proposal – help him carry out some illicit deeds to level out a debt, or honour the debt itself. The choice is no choice for Martin, who promptly says yes and is driven to a remote woodland where he is forced to dig and thus begins to discover part of the secret that is already changing his life and those around him….

It has taken the best part of nine years for THE GLASS MAN to finally achieve a release since its’ original screening at the London Frightfest back in 2011, so for anyone who has a film they would love to get out there, hope springs eternal. There are perhaps any number of reasons for why this is the way it has been, but it is anything but a bad movie (sometimes a key reason why films take so long to get a shot at distribution)

Nyman is excellent in the lead role as somebody suffering tremendous stress from all manner of situations in his life, as is Campbell in a brief, underused but pivotal role as the wife which demonstrates her versatility. If you have seen a number of psychological genre films, you can guess where this will be heading as the film progresses as there are clear indications that all is not what it seems and writer/director Cristian Solimeno (who also has a key role as Martin’s childhood friend, now a big movie star) has considerable skill at the helm, using good London visuals to achieve the right atmospheric tone.
