We finally get to see the cast of upcoming movie DAD’S ARMY all together in one place – a new still has shown the actors all suited and booted.

The popular British sitcom that ran from 1968 to 1977 and as in the original TV series, the new film follows the exploits of the Home Guard Platoon, stationed in the fictional town of Walmington-on-Sea during the Second World War.

DAD’S ARMY will star Toby Jones as the bumbling Captain Mainwaring, Michael Gambon as Private Godfrey, Bill Nighy as Sergeant Wilson, Danny Mays as Private Walker, Tom Courtenay as Lance-Corporal Jones, Bill Paterson as Private Frazer and Blake Harrison as Private Pike. A new addition to the cast will be Catherine Zeta Jones as Rose Winters – a journalist.

The big screen adaptation is being helmed by Oliver Parker, whose previous work includes THE IMPORTANCE OF BEING EARNEST, ST. TRINIAN’S and JOHNNY ENGLISH REBORN, who has reunited with Johnny English screenwriter Hamish McColl to write the script.

The plot will shift the story from the show’s mid Second World War setting and move it to 1944 just as the war was about to end. The home guard are facing a low in moral, until a new female journalist comes to write a report on the gang, while news of a German spy puts everyone in the platoon on edge.
