A while back when I heard that J.J. Abrams was taking the helm of Star Wars: The Force Awakens I was a little underwhelmed. Now I know there are a lot of J.J. fans out there who are already foaming at the mouth, but just hear me out. I find that his previous films tend to be a little on the mediocre side, but I do like some of the films he has produced.
A few months ago I thought the new Star Wars really could go either way. The teasers did not do much for me and the last trailer only gave me a small amount of faith in Abrams.
I’ve only heard good things about the new Star Wars and even got to talk to a few extras who said J.J. was really pulling it together. They explained that when you walk on the set he makes everyone feel important and truly part of the Star Wars family.
I can happily say that this latest trailer is absolutely phenomenal and really freezes many doubts I had about the new film in carbonite.
We now have a stronger sense of how the film may play out and if it delivers on the trailer we are in for a treat. I know many of you were probably already excited and were won over months ago, but for those of you who were more dubious I can’t see how this trailer would disappoint anyone.
The trailer showcases more of the locations, which look very naturalistic and have an earthy quality about them. We get a better understanding of who the characters are without revealing much about the plot of the film, exactly how trailers should be.
We finally get to see more of the new chrome tie fighters and they look stunning. The direction of the dogfighting is exiting and well co-ordinated.
Most importantly of all we see John Boyega breathing normally and not panting away like all the other teasers and trailers. Good to know he manages to catch his breath in the end.
