Sylvester Stallone

Sylvester Stallone and Michael B. Jordan entertain on the Jonathan Ross show…

Hollywood legend and Golden Globe winner, Sylvester Stallone took to the Jonathan Ross show with his CREED co-star Michael B. Jordan to talk about their movie and the comedic duo were on fine form.

There’s not a lot you can’t love about Rocky, or should we say, Sylvester Stallone and each and every time we see him, we can’t help but be drawn to him even more. He is comedic, entertaining and seems to be something of a trickster, which his co-star and couch partner on the show can certainly vouch for. Joining Stallone on the yellow sofa was the leading star of CREED, Michael B. Jordan and the two heavy weight actors revealed how much they enjoyed working together and hope to do so again in a follow-up to the hit boxing movie: “I was so happy that I finally got the last Rocky Balboa done… it got done, I was very satisfied with the results. That was 2006 and I thought, OK this is my crowning accomplishment. I was so happy with it, wave goodbye to the audience then eight years later [pretends to knock on the door and mimics director Ryan Coogler speaking to him] he goes, ‘I’m an unknown filmmaker, I haven’t made any movies yet, but I have this idea of bringing you back.’”

It certainly seems Coogler’s persistence paid off, much like Jordan’s Donnie in the movie, who continuously chased Rocky until he gave in and began to train him. Determination has certainly paid off for Coogler and we are glad it did as CREED is such a great movie. You can read our full review of the knockout film here

In order to keep the action real, Jordan was inevitably going to have to take a hit and like Stallone revealed ‘we all have to do it’ so when the moment came for the rising star, Jordan to feel the weight of Tony Bellew‘s right hook, Stallone was on hand with his phone to film the moment that Jordan smelt the canvas and boy, did Stallone enjoy every moment…

“He was asleep… He was counting sheep…”  Aww, poor Michael. Take a look at a snippet below when they discuss Sylvester’s sneaky video of the knock out…

Best moment from that clip? When asked if he knew Bellew was going to connect and Sly proudly responds, “Absolutely!”

Of course, the newly crowned Golden Globe winner was asked about his success at the ceremony and he was still clearly overwhelmed by the nod, but comically quipped that his family finally made a film they enjoyed watching: “It was fantastic, you have a few crossroads in your life and you say this happened and Rocky happened but to have the kids there, the wife there and the audience was packed with the most talented human beings in Hollywood and I thought I was coming in from a different area in the action world and usually those two worlds don’t meet ever… It was a choice I made but the fact that I was reintroduced into this mainstream, it was fantastic and to have my daughters there… Because they hate my movies, they go ‘Rambo ew, does he ever take a shower? Does he have to stab everyone? He has issues, he has seriously social issues’ and then all of a sudden with Creed, Creed has the most extraordinary music in it, coupled with Michael’s youthful enthusiasm, the director’s style, they went ‘Finally you’ve made a decent film!’”

This is something which Stallone touched upon at the CREED European premiere last week and you can watch what he had to say about his family’s response below:

After his success with CREED, Stallone revealed that he would like his next project to be something that is ‘dramatical’ and he confirmed that he would not star in another RAMBO. However, even though there are no plans as of yet for another film in THE EXPENDABLES franchise, Stallone kept the audience guessing about whether or not he would star in another: “One thing I have learnt, is never say never.”

Our eyes will be firmly planted on February 28th at the Academy Awards to see if he picks up the gong for his Best Supporting Actor nomination. Will he add another accolade to his Golden Globe success? He certainly has a fighting chance…
