As it seems to be the way in modern Hollywood, franchises are the name of the game. According to rapper Daz Dillinger, a sequel to the newly released STRAIGHT OUTTA COMPTONÂ is already under way.
According to reports, the sequel, feeding off the unexpected success of the original, will similarly follow a number of West Coast rappers and takes place directly after the first one.
The STRAIGHT OUTTA COMPTONÂ sequel will focus on Snoop Dogg, Nate Dogg, Kurupt and Tupac amongst others, and a working title for the project is Dogg Pound 4 Life. With a similar feel as Compton, the film will focus on the rise of the group of rappers under the tutelage of Dr. Dre, in a gritty and honest story.
Considering STRAIGHT OUTTA COMPTON‘s impressive run at the box office, it was only a matter of time before someone tried to go back to the ’90s hip-hop well. And indeed, a spiritual sequel to STRAIGHT OUTTA COMPTON is now in the works — but not from Universal.
