When it comes to Marvel news/announcements, they just don’t stop! AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON is finally out in UK cinemas (sorry USA!) and I’m sure many of you reading this have, or are about to go and see the movie this weekend. Marvel, not one to try to let any other production companies release any other news, have officially released the shortlist for the five potential actors to who could be our newest SPIDERMAN.

According to Jeff Sneider of the Wrap, Sony and Marvel have narrowed down their list of potential actors who are in contention to play the role.

The list is as follows: Nat Wolff (THE FAULT IN OUR STARS, PAPERTOWNS) Asa Butterfield (Hugo, Enders Game) Tom Holland (The Impossible, How I Live Now) Timothee Chalamet (INTERSTELLAR, MEN WOMAN & CHILDREN) and Liam James (THE WAY WAY BACK, 2012).

At this point I should point out that neither Marvel or Sony have confirmed or denied the lists authenticity, but those close to the project have let slip that these are the names that are in strong consideration for the role.

This new list is a good indication of what both studios are looking for in their new Peter Parker. Who are defiantly sticking to their guns in terms or hiring a relatively unknown young actor to play the sassy web-slinger.

SPIDERMAN is expected to hit multiplexes on July 28th, 2017 and will be the first outing for Spidey within the realms of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, excluding the rumoured cameo in the upcoming CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR.

What do you think of the list? Is there another actor you would have like to have been considered to be SPIDERMAN? Are you excited for another Spiderman film? Do you wish they kept Andrew Garfield? For more news as it happens keep checking back to Film and TV Now.
