Hotel Transylvania

The secret life of Dracula’s daughter.

Sony and Nelvana are set to develop an animated series based on Hotel Transylvania chronicling the teenage years of Dracula’s daughter, Mavis. It is planned to debut on TV screens in early 2017.

Directed by Genndy Tartakovsky (creator of Dexter’s Laboratory and Samurai Jack) Hotel Transylvania was released in 2012 to a mixed critical reception. However, a sequel was commissioned and is set to be released in the autumn of this year.

Hotel Transylvania told the story of Count Dracula, the owner of Hotel Transylvania (a horror icon’s favourite holiday destination), as he invites the world’s most famous monsters to celebrate his daughter’s 118th birthday. The hotel is plunged into chaos with the arrival of Jonathan (a 21 year old human) as Dracula tries to stop his daughter falling in love with the unwanted guest, and prevent the other guests from discovering a human amongst them.

The movie featured the vocal talents of Selena Gomez, Adam Aandler, Steve Buscemi, Molly Shannon and Mel Brooks. It is unknown if the movie cast will lend their voices to the animated series.

The animated series will be produced by Rick MIschel of Sony Pictures Animation, Colin Bohm and Irene Weibel both from Nelvana.

The sequel will follow Dracula and the Drac-Pack (or the Hammer Avengers) as they put his half-human, half-vampire grandson Dennis through a ‘monster-in-training’ boot camp.

Hotel Transylvania 2 is set to arrive in UK cinemas 9th October.
