The next annual SohoLIFF is just around the corner, Thursday 25th – Sunday 28th January 2024 at the famous 75 Dean Street, London W1D 3SQ.

It’s impressive line-up of over 50 films across an array of genres include award winners, great talent and superb newcomers.

Highlights include Harry Holland’s film LAST CALL on Thursday 25th starring brother, BAFTA winner Spider-Man, Tom Holland along with revered Olivier and Tony award winner Lindsay Duncan.

Another debut directorial film FLITE comes from Oscar and BAFTA winner Tim Webber. Elsewhere at the festival watch TV star Michelle Collins in THE LONG WALK or Australian director and actor Nash Edgerton take a leading role in the dark comedy SPIDER. Also you don’t want to miss THE WAKE or FAIRPLAY both of which have been nominated for Oscars.

With a lot of controversy surrounding the Black Lives Matter demonstrations the documentary DETROIT WILL BREATHE, is an eye- opening film that was made after staff going through the body cam footage from the police for the court cases felt compelled to show the truth. An uncompromising film that leaves no room for guess work.

To be honest all the documentaries are a must watch, they cover such a wide range of topics, from environmental to the pharma industry. The likes of SISTERS INTERRUPTED which explores the use of Cannabis for epilepsy, highlighting the unfair disadvantages of the laws surrounding this and the illuminating film HOMECOMING about members of the Ngarannam community in Nigeria after an attack by Boko Haram to name just a few.

This is a festival that has high quality work with intelligent films that are both entertaining and informative as well as downright hilarious and if you like your horror get along to the frightful Friday block where there is a brilliant line up of films that go bump in the night!

SohoLIFF supports new and established voices aiming to highlight diverse, dynamic and inclusive stories as well as advocating sustainable film-making, focusing on social and environmental issues.

After each screening there is a Q&A with the filmmakers, also workshops and panels that are free to all delegates. The perfect opportunity to network with peers, industry professionals and film lovers.

Tickets are just £10 per block, and you get up to 7 films for that. Definitely get yourself down there, these are films you don’t want to miss. If you cant make the screening in person you can always join virtually.

Founder Liz Farahadi (above) is passionate about film and as an actress, founder and filmmaker she has an inside view on how best to manage processes for contributors. She comments, With the world in a state of flux now more than ever we need to be coming together.

This is the ethos of the dynamic and vibrant SohoLIFF – a festival with a twist. It is based in the fabulous building that housed Warner Brothers for many years, pretty much all their films have come through these doors.

She continues to say, The team behind the festival are all volunteers, who are particularly interested in films with a social and environmental impact as they believe in the power film has to create change. Determined to make a difference they also offer support and opportunities to people who want to get involved in film.

This is definitely a film festival worth visiting!
