Life is many things and many facets, but for us all it resides in our hearts and what our hearts in their very imperfections can manifest externally. Such is the dilemma facing one troubled man in Mauricio Ovalle‘s short-form drama, THE BEST GIFT IN LIFE IS LIFE ITSELF.

Antonio (Ovalle leading the cast) is debating whether to call time on his time on Earth and has a vial labelled ‘No Pain’ waiting to be consumed. However, a knock on the door reveals passing traveller plus family in the wings Peter (Timothy R. Hoffman) who senses by Antonio opening the door that there might be some worth in the world…..

The idea of fate and serendipity having an entwining belief and practicality is right here in this involving tale, which retains a consistent empathy throughout, preaching ideas with balance. Ovalle is competent both in front of and behind the camera.
