The wonders of what science could be and what it could do have been explored for years in films, but it has become anti-climactic when you look at the reality of what some films have represented.

If we believed John Carpenter and Ridley Scott for example, we would have been terrified at the prospect of New York being a maximum-security penitentiary in 1997 (ESCAPE FROM NEW YORK) or Los Angeles being a haven for replicants on the run from Harrison Ford’s Detective Rick Deckard in 2019 (BLADE RUNNER).

Decades ago, before TOP OF THE POPS, millions of Brits would tune in on aNow Thursday night to watch the likes of Raymond Baxter, Judith Hann and Michael Rodd try and regale us with the exciting upcoming developments that the world would be bestowing on us to make our lives better in TOMORROW’S WORLD.

Now, director Sandro Moretti with help from presenter Francis Hellyer takes us on a short but fun journey looking into some interesting new parallel developments that could have featured in those earlier films in a possible future in TECH TO THE FUTURE.

In LA we look at what Aeromobil are doing with a new seemingly-revolutionary flying car (although when you hear how much just one of these costs, you might want to stick to your regular Uber!!)

Bruce Willis may have retired from acting due to his health condition, but he had the foresight to register his likeness with Deepcake, a technology that aims to preserve actors on screen for long enough. In some ways we are already seeing this with the huge success of the ABBA VOYAGE virtual production concert which is wowing audiences in London with the ABBA-tars of Agnetha, Benny, Bjorn and Anni-Frid singing their old and new songs in the shadow of the London Stadium in Stratford at the dedicated ABBA Arena.

We get a look at a new Blockchain content creation format called Trioscope, which can make the impossibility of making a big-budget blockbuster in a graphic novel-style a possible for all film-makers across the globe. In a different context we see the work of Cytovale, who are using medical technology to try and help accelerate the early diagnosis of progressive diseases.

Finally, we look inside the Hollywood Museum in Los Angeles at how technology is shaping the museum tour experience.

TECH TO THE FUTURE will raise a few eyebrows, but it is fun to see what people are trying to conceive and create for a better tomorrow, even if some people believe it may never come.

ABOUT THE FILM:

Director Sandro Monetti and Producer Francis Hellyer created TECH TO THE FUTURE to share an optimistic look at the shape of things to come. After launching at Cannes, this informative documentary has qualified to be considered for the 95th Academy Awards® and has played at the Newport Beach Film Festival and in Los Angeles at the CineLounge.

Tech Wizards are making the previously unthinkable a reality. From flying cars to artificial actors, this documentary is a fascinating journey to tomorrow which shows that science fiction is fast becoming science fact.

Writer-Director Sandro Monetti is a multi-award-winning British journalist, author and broadcaster based in Los Angeles. Showbiz expert Sandro is a frequent contributor to CNN and the BBC.

Long a chronicler of the famous, he has written bestselling biographies of movie stars Mickey Rourke and Colin Firth and a West End and Off-Broadway play about Marilyn Monroe while his own memoir, “Confessions of a Hollywood Insider,” was an entertainment book of the year finalist in 2021.

Tech to the Future” is his first documentary. Monetti got the idea for this film while teaching performance skills to rocket scientists – seriously! Brought in to teach socially awkward tech experts how to pitch to investors, he learned of many amazing inventions in the process and knew he had to feature them in a film.

Producer and Host Francis Hellyer is an innovator, investor and futurist profiled in Forbes and other major media; Francis has helped a string of tech companies reach their potential. His first big success came in internet ticketing as the chief executive and co-founder of London Theatre Direct. Now based in Monaco, this Welsh visionary has set up his own investment company, Hellyer Capital. He hosts the podcast Metaverse.FM.”Tech to the Future” is his first documentary.
