Bridget Jones

Look who’s back… and how we’ve missed her! Working Title has released the first image of Renée Zellweger in BRIDGET JONES’S BABY.

Renée Zellweger is making a triumphant return to her most beloved role in BRIDGET JONES’S BABY, the third film based on Helen Fielding’s bestselling book series. From the image we can see she has jumped into the 21st century and ditched her diary for an iPad.

Working Title will produce the film, which sees Renee Zellweger reprising the title role along with Colin Firth as love interest Mark Darcy and Patrick Dempsey taking on a new role in Jones’s life. Zellweger and Firth previously appeared in both of the preceding films, BRIDGET JONES’S DIARY in 2001 and BRIDGET JONES: THE EDGE OF REASON in 2003. The films have both been great global successes at the box office, banking over $540 million worldwide.

Sharon Maguire, who directed the original Bridget Jones’s Diary in 2001, will be helming the film once more from a script she co-wrote with David Nicholls (ONE DAY).

Very little is known about the plot of the movie, but what we do know, as made clear in the title, our favourite crazy lady, Bridget, has a baby in the third film of the series. Is the baby Mark Darcy’s? Is it a result of a fling with Dempsey’s new character? Either way, we are hoping for the same barrel of laughs and drama she always brings.

No release date has been set yet for BRIDGET JONES’S BABY, but all we can say is, welcome back, Bridget!
