British studio Aardman Animations are working their usual magic with another feature film project, this time turning their attention to one of their most endearing characters, SHAUN THE SHEEP.

The character has gone from strength to strength since making his first appearance alongside stop-motion duo Wallace and Gromit in the 1995 short A CLOSE SHAVE. The character proved endearing with audiences, to the point that 2007 saw Shaun come into his own in the popular children’s television series Shaun the Sheep, which follows Shaun leading his own flock in a series of escapades.

After five series, the series is still going strong. No doubt the success of the show has led to Shaun hitting the silver screen. Plot details suggest that Shaun and his flock will make their way to the big city to rescue their farmer.

The film is written and directed by Richard Starzack and Mark Burton, the latter of which has contributed material to the screenplays for the first Madagascar film and the feature-length Wallace and Gromit outing, THE CURSE OF THE WERE-RABBIT.

The titular sheep himself will be voiced by regular Shaun actor and children’s television personality Justin Fletcher.

The film is due to be released on February 6, 2015.
