Rousey

After her earth-shattering fight this past Saturday night in Brazil, where she knocked out Bethe Correia in just over 34 seconds, Ronda Rousey is looking to move away from the world of UFC and into the welcoming arms of Hollywood, as the UFC champ is set to star in a film about her own life.

Rousey will star in a biopic based off her own life and autobiography ‘My Fight/Your Fight’ which was released earlier this year by Regan Arts.

One of the most iconic figures of popular culture right now, mostly due to her skill within the ring, Rousey has starred in numerous action films and has quite a strong filmography behind her. Having already featured in last years EXPENDABLES 3, this year’s global mega hit FAST AND FURIOUS 7, as well as having a cameo in ENTOURAGE where she plays an exaggerated version  of herself.

Rousey has previously been shy about her involvement within the film industry.

“I never thought that being an action movie star was in the cards for me,” she told The Hollywood Reporter. “My agent kept telling me, ‘You’re going to be the female rock’. Then I started to believe it.”

Writing the screenplay for Rousey will be Mark Bomback, whose previous writing credits include 2012’s TOTAL RECALL, 2013’s THE WOLVERINE and last year’s DAWN OF THE PLANET OF THE APES. No other crew has been announced at this moment.

Rousey’s story is a pretty incredible one. From her mother winning the World Judo Championship, to her father’s suicide, to Rousey’s own problems with depression; it’s a great story about self-determination and strength overcoming personal and physical problems to become one of the most respected fighters, and person, of our time.
