ROBERT ORCI on the set of ENDER'S GAME

Big news for Star Trek fans – Roberto Orci will not longer be directing the third movie.

Deadline broke the news after it was previously reported that Orci would make his directorial debut with the major franchise.

Having co-written the script with John D. Payne and Patrick McKay, Orci was expected to take on the movie with full support from J.J Abrams. Now it seems he’s no longer being considered for the director’s chair but will remain on the crew as a producer.

There has been no real explanation as to why Orci is out of the picture for director as of yet, but with the film hoping to be ready for 2016, a new directer needs to step up quick.

Rumour has it that British director Edgar Write (SHAUN OF THE DEAD, THE WORLDS END) may be up for the role. This is something we’d be very happy about!
