Rambo

Exciting news for fans of the movie RAMBO starring Sylvester Stallone, as a new TV series is reportedly in the works.

Deadline has reported that FOX has closed a development deal with Sylvester Stallone to executive produce RAMBO: NEW BLOOD, a television continuation of the long-running film series.

The show will focus on Stallone’s John Rambo and his son J.R., described as an ex-Navy SEAL for the series, and will be penned by DIE HARD and THE FUGITIVE screenwriter Jeb Stuart. Of course, what everyone wants to know is whether or not Stallone will reprise his titular role once again – this is uncertain – and unconfirmed, but he is expected to reprise his role as John Rambo.

Entertainment One and Avi Lerner’s Millennium Films will produce the series, which has put the previously-reported fifth film, RAMBO: LAST BLOOD, on hold.

The film series began in 1982 with FIRST BLOOD, adapted from the novel by David Morrell, with modest success. It was followed by RAMBO: FIRST BLOOD PART II in 1985, which remains the highest-grossing film in the series with over $300 million at the global box office. RAMBO III was released in 1988 and the character would take a twenty year break before returning in 2008’s RAMBO.

Development on the television adaptation of Rambo began back in 2013, though reports circulated at the time that Stallone would not be involved. This also marks the second foray of the character on the small screen as an animated series, RAMBO: THE FORCE OF FREEDOM, aired briefly in 1986.
