Anyone who has aspired to being in the movies has, at some point, designed their favourite movie poster in their own way.

Nowadays, the alternative poster is a much-sought after commodity and one of the most recent successes has been a full-on book of illustrations celebrating the John Carpenter classic THE THING (1982).

The affection for this film is firmly entrenched in this wonderful volume and features a postscript from the director himself, who approves of the various illustrations that can be enjoyed and viewed.

Fans of this particular style of alternate art will be thrilled to learn that on the 5th and 6th April, 2019 the global creative hub for poster designers, PosterSpy, will be hosting their first ever alternative poster art Portfolio Review events.

Details about who the final short-list of artists will be is not available at the time of publication, but have been shortlisted by a panel of six industry professionals from hundreds of applicants within the PosterSpy community worldwide.

The grand opening of the exhibition on Friday 5th April will reveal the winner of the competition and two runners up.

On Saturday 6th April, PosterSpy  has two special industry talks scheduled.

Doors open at 11am.

At 2pm, Doaly, the UK based artist who has worked for some of the world’s biggest studios, will be presenting – which will be followed by a Q and A.

The second talk will be taking place at 4pm and the audience will be given the chance to pick the brains of UK based artist Dan Mumford, who will be talking through his experiences, his screen printing techniques and how he has become one of the illustration industry’s most recognisable artists.
