Jenna Suru, Paris International Film Festival Director announced the Festival’s upcoming involvement in this year’s Cannes Film Festival and other key announcements.

Commenting on the event, Suru had this to say:

Paris International Film Festival keeps championing film-makers and their projects for change along the year. We are officially accredited for the Cannes Film Festival and will be hosting interviews physically on Cannes Market, with some of our selected Film-makers.

We are excited to safely meet in person and celebrate cinema and resilience after such a successful edition! More than ever, Film-makers have shown how resilient they could be – and are leading the way to a better future with their outstanding stories.

My passion and long-term goal are to bring change in our industries. Which is enough to explain why it’s been everything but a smooth road.

After turning 25, I filmed my debut period drama feature The Golden Age (“L’Âge d’Or”), which I have written, directed, and produced as the only producer following the Ecoprod guidelines for eco-friendly film-making.

The Golden Age pays tribute to 60s Saint-Tropez eternal and the many artists (Brigitte Bardot, Johnny Halliday, Françoise Sagan, Mick Jagger and so many more) who have flown there to change that world that did not work for them.

Cannes Film Festival chose to make eco-friendliness an absolute priority for this upcoming edition. For me as a film-maker, this is very inspiring.

One of the challenges of The Golden Age (“L’Âge d’Or”) was making the film in an eco-friendly way, while filming in 35 exceptional locations in Paris, South of France and LA. Working with an eco set has been a wonderful experience and the result is so very rewarding now that the Film is Ecoprod certified.

Some of our film partners like the mythical Byblos Hotel even have their own sustainable Chart and eco-friendly restaurant, which is a very exciting achievement. We always love discussing the best practices to film green and can’t wait to champion the #filmgreen movement even more at Cannes next month”

KISS THE GROUND AT PARIS INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL

One of the picks of this year’s online Paris International Film Festival was the environmental documentary KISS THE GROUND.

Reflecting on the film, Jenna Suru had this to say:

It was an absolute blast to receive husband-and-wife Josh (Sundance Audience Award for Best Documentary) and Rebecca Tickell who are environmental activists, on our Paris International Film Festival Q&A

The film focuses on an idea that rather than minding the atmosphere so much, we should focus on the ground that we stand on. Our soil and the hidden potential of the microbes could stop the reduction of the ozone layer caused by fossil fuels and reinvigorate the process. It contains definitions, significant visual pointers, that will heighten your own desire to be more involved in the future of the environment and planet.

Kiss The Ground is highly educational and Josh and Rebecca are incredibly humble and efficient at raising awareness on this urgent issue. They have even made an educational version of Kiss The Ground available to all teachers and educators around the world who would like to use it for educational purposes, which you can request on their website.”

Watch Josh and Rebecca Q&A moderated by Jeff Rivera organized on the occasion of the international premiere of the documentary feature film during the Festival.
