It seems that Paramount Pictures, Michael Bay and Lorenzo di Bonaventura are bringing on Akiva Goldsman to help expand the TRANSFORMERS cinematic universe.

This is some exciting news for TRANSFORMERS fans. Deadline reports Goldsman would not be writing but instead assembling and overseeing a “writers room” to create a two-part sequel in the film’s franchise in addition to potential spinoffs. Aside from his writing duties, Goldsman may also join Bay, di Bonaventura and Steven Spielberg as a producer. That’s quite a bit of multi-tasking!

Goldsman has enjoyed a lot of recent success at the box office with films like I AM LEGEND, THE DA VINCI CODE and most recently, INSURGENT.

Bay is currently working on the pre-prodution of Benghazi thriller, 13 HOURS and there has been no word as of yet whether he will also be sitting in the director’s chair for TRANSFORMERS.

Either way, there is a lot of support for the franchise, which has proven to be a popular vehicle for Paramount Pictures. Their recent venture TRANSFORMERS: AGE OF EXTINCTION,” bagged $1 billion worldwide last year, making it the third film in the franchise to pass that milestone.
