We have been waiting for months to finally get the chance to watch OUTLANDER after its successful season one aired in the US and across other nations and now thanks to Amazon Prime it will be broadcast in the UK from March 26th.
Amazon UK has secured the rights to the first season of OUTLANDER, a popular TV series which has been likened to a Scottish GAME OF THRONES and as of Thursday it will be shown on Amazon Prime Instant Video.
OUTLANDER, which spans the adventure, drama, fantasy, history and romance genres, is based on a series of novels by US author Diana Gabaldon.
OUTLANDER follows the story of Claire Randall, a married combat nurse from 1945 who is mysteriously swept back in time to 1743 Scotland, where she is immediately thrown into an unknown world and her life is threatened. When she is forced to marry Jamie Fraser, a chivalrous and romantic young Scottish warrior, a passionate relationship is ignited that tears Claire’s heart between two vastly different men in two irreconcilable lives.
Catriona Balfe, known for her roles in NOW YOU SEE ME and SUPER 8, plays the lead. Sam Heughan plays the charismatic warrior James MacKenzie Fraser, who the already-married Randall is forced to wed, sparking a passionate love affair that sees her heart torn between her two husbands.
Annette Badland (EASTENDERS), Duncan Lacroix (VIKINGS), Gary Lewis (FILTH), Graham McTavish (THE HOBBIT TRILOGY) and Tobias Menzes (GAME OF THRONES) are also in the series, which is produced by Sony Pictures Television and features the likes of Loch Ness, the Royal Mile in Edinburgh and Doune Castle.
Amazon Prime Instant Video has also secured the rights to further series, with the second season set to start filming this summer.
The series was watched by five million people a week when it first aired in the US on Starz last year, and a second season will start on the cable and satellite television network in April.
We are certainly looking forward to the start of the series and will no doubt be glued to our computer screens for a binge-watch session of OUTLANDER and many more great shows which are currently being broadcast.
The first 8 episodes of the Outlander season one will be available on Prime Instant Video from Thursday 26th March for fans to binge watch. The remaining episodes will then launch weekly on Amazon Prime Instant Video from Sunday 5th April, each episode being released every Sunday just hours after broadcast in the US.
