Trainspotting

Sony company Tri-Star Pictures have acquired the worldwide distribution rights to Danny Boyle’s long-awaited sequel to TRAINSPOTTING according to reports.

TRAINSPOTTING first hit cinemas back in 1996 and became an instant cult classic and catapulted many of its stars into stardom. The original film featured Ewan McGregor, Robert Carlyle, Johnny Lee Miller and Ewen Bremner which was helmed by Danny Boyle and the good news for fans of the first film is that all of the actors will once again be reuniting with the director.

However, there may be difficulties with scheduling due to Carlyle’s commitments to TV series ONCE UPON A TIME and Miler’s to ELEMENTARY may be an issue in how soon cameras roll.

Screenwriter John Hodge, who adapted Irvine Welsh’s novel for the screen back in 1996, has also penned the sequel based on Welsh’s follow-up novel ‘Porno’ (which is not anticipated to be the film’s title).

Carlyle is certainly very excited by the newly penned screenplay calling it “one of the best scripts I’ve f***ing read.”

As it stands, there has been no release dates announced, but what we do know is that reportedly TRAINSPOTTING 2 will begin production in Spring 2016 ahead of a 2017 release.
